Mole Mansions

Incidents of Travel

by Caterina Verde

“Mole Mansions is a non-narrative narrative composed of writings, photographs, drawings, and paintings; an oblique travelogue acquiescing to my experience of loss and recomposition.  It is the outcome of travels in Mexico and elsewhere in the early 1990s. I was seeking a new way to view an old story: death. It was a topic I was mostly reluctant to talk about except it had weirdly permeated my strategies. In the realm of the unconscious, loss of place and belonging don’t go unnoticed. Strategies of place(s) are navigated and seen through the loss of people’s lands through conquest and attrition.”
