Caterina Verde is an American and French artist currently living and working in Ridgewood, New York.

“I work in a cross-platform of media that includes video, installation, drawing, photography, 3d objects, and earlier on, paintings.

“For the better part of this life, I have had a certain nomadic existence. I just don’t have the yurt, yet, though — eventually I will get one. Now, I’m in an urban environment and obsessed with the nature around me, even through the cracks. There’s so much wildlife in a city. The forests are waiting to take back over. I’m waiting patiently too.

Vacillating between the comic and melan-comic — I’m imagining that I’m furtively teasing out the lines between humour and separation.

I have initiated many collective projects over the years, as I feel that aside from our own work as artists it’s important to build community not just within the art world but in the immediate vicinity.

For three years in the late nineties, I had the honor of being the performance curator (aka Hybrid Curator) at The Kitchen in NYC, and later, I initiated and ran an online performance platform, Strange Positioning Systems.

Today, I’m busy wrangling the long-term video project, RV + RV, making new drawings, and a writing project. “

The three channel video installation work, Inside Remote Viewing and the Recreational Vehicle received support in 2021 from the New York City Artist Corps grant sponsored by NYFA and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.

In this time of lonesome trepidation, I walk with a steady hand, leaving my love life on an old table. Atop the table sits a book, worn and thin; an annotated version of an obscure book on esoterism. I light a candle or two hoping for the best.
